Explore the Central Coast from a visitor's point of view.
A national TV program recently spent two days exploring and showcasing some of our incredible locations and experiences.

TV personality, James Tobin, and the Weekend Sunrise team visited and shared to millions of Australians; four of our neighbourhoods, Terrigal, The Entrance, Long Jetty, and Glenworth Valley. With so many experiences across the Central Coast from headland to hinterland, it was incredible to see a few of our local businesses being highlighted in the crosses to JT for the weather.

So that you can follow in JT's footsteps, we have created an itinerary that is the perfect combination of adventure and relaxation fit for an inspiring holiday. Filled with delicious food and wine, thrill-seeking quad bike ride, charming Dingoes, heavenly baked goods, Pelican Time, and so much more.

Terrigal Ocean Tours

You're whale-come to have an incredible experience with Terrigal Ocean Tours who run whale watching, dolphin watching, and seal tours with a qualified Marine Biologist on board to help identify the species and provide expert commentary. During spring, after having their calves in Queensland, around 45,000 whales migrate south past our headlands giving you ample opportunity to see them. If you can't make one of Terrigal Ocean Tours, you find some of the best whale watching spots in our handy guide.

Central Coast Surf Academy

If learning to surf is high on your bucket list, the Central Coast Surf Academy has Australian accredited coaches to teach all experience levels. Founded by ex-World Tour Surfer and local surfing celebrity Amee Donohoe who was recently part of an elite coaching program for AIS. CCSA has a range of programs catering to children, adults and even corporates which are taught at various Central Coast beaches based on the most suitable option for your level.

Hello Dingo

A special experience is with the team at Hello Dingo, a group of skilled Dingo handlers who provide an educational talk for individuals of all ages. Learn about these beautiful animals' history and impact on our environment and get up close and personal with their two stunning wild-born dingoes, Flynn and Bindi. Rest assured, their dingoes have been raised and trained by hand to ensure safe interaction with individuals of all ages under their careful supervision.

"They're fascinating, there are similarities with the domesticated dogs but their wit and sharpness, they're always on" - James Tobin

Terrigal Beach House

This iconic venue on the Central Coast has been known by many names over the years, now Terrigal Beach House, after your whale watching, dingo experience or surf lesson, you can head here to enjoy some live music, grab a drink and dig into a delicious menu. Located in the heart of Terrigal, it is a fun and vibrant meeting place for endless good times with stunning beach views and fresh ocean breezes.

Burnt Honey Bakery

Taste the love in this artisan bakery making delicious pastries and breads from scratch using the highest quality and most ethical produce available. Burnt Honey opened their first bakery in Copacabana in 2019 with their second in Long Jetty from 2022. This bakery has gained popularity with locals who love a fresh crunchy and flaky pastry. Try one of their famous brown sugar cinnamon buns with burnt butter glaze and take home a few loaves of sourdough and a jar of sour cherry and almond biscotti.

Pelican Time

A truly inspiring experience is our eco-friendly Pelican Time educational talk. Pelicans have played an integral role in making The Entrance a much-loved holiday destination for generations. With this in mind Marine Wildlife Rescue Central Coast, with the support of Central Coast Council and Destination Central Coast, provide this talk which gives locals and visitors the opportunity to experience seeing wild pelicans in their natural environment, while learning about them from trained volunteers who have been rescuing and caring for them for over 30 years.

These talks are run every Saturday, Sunday, Public Holidays (with the exception of Christmas) and every day during School Holidays, at 3:30pm at Pelican Plaza, The Entrance. If you're lucky like JT, you'll witness the MWRCC team rescuing an injured pelican during the experience, although we can't guarantee that the pelican will be named after you.

Upstairs Wines

With a motto of Fine Wine and Good Times, it's no wonder Upstairs Wines are a favourite to visit. Originating from a tiny tasting room on top of a speakeasy in Bondi, Upstairs Wines is a boutique online shop and tasting rooms which now has two locations across the coast. They source from small wineries that limit their use of synthetic chemicals, additions and fining products, meaning the next morning you might be feeling better than you think. They seek wines that are a true reflection of time, place and people and if they don’t love it, they don’t sell it.

Websters Vintage

One of the longest standing businesses in Long Jetty, Websters Vintage specialise in retro & shabby chic vintage and second-hand goods. Turn back the hands of time and pick up a bit of nostalgia with a collection of clothing, furniture, wares and electrical goods. You can even grab a 1980s boombox which JT seemed quite interested in.

Ken’s Humble Pie Shop

Established inn 2021 Ken's Humble Pie Shop is the labour of love from Ken Shearim who was formerly of Pie in the Sky in Erina, which locals know had the top-notch pies and profiteroles. Now with his own shop, he creates a flaky and tasty pastry baked to perfection, using only the freshest ingredients, prepared and cooked in a traditional time-honoured pie-making way. For those sweet tooths the profiteroles will have you coming back for more.

For those thrill-seeking explorers they have a large variety of activities including horse riding, laser skirmish, quad-biking, abseiling, axe throwing, and kayaking. Glenworth Valley can make you feel a million miles away, "Forget man from Snowy River, this is man from Glenworth Valley" - James Tobin. Outside their action-packed activities Glenworth Valley Wilderness Adventures also have a range of accommodation options to rest your tired soul after a great day.
