About the artist

Michael St. George is a Central Coast based writer, singer, songwriter, recording artiste and leader in his field. Born in Portland, Jamaica, of Maroon heritage and having grown up in Kingston and St. Andrew, He dedicates much of his work to social equity and justice. He reminds us of the urgency to examine the conditions of the world and take meaningful steps to ease the suffering of the most vulnerable among us.
With five albums to his credit and number six in the making, Michael continues to perform globally pursuing his mission to help people heal through raising their vibration and rekindling their spiritual connection to the Universe. A Rasta man committed to pushing the boundaries of song and poetry, Michael utilizes the reggae cadence and world beats to connect with diverse audiences in a mood of spiritual consciousness and historical awareness. He has composed and collaborated with international musicians and producers such as Dennis Bovell (UK), Kassa Alexander (UK), Peter Hulong (Canada), Sheldon Bernard (Jamaica), Earl ‘Chinno’ Smith (Jamaica), Paul Kastic, Charles Sinclair (Canada), OKA (Australia), Tatadindin (Gambia), Mafu Konteh, Bambu Konteh (Gambia) Jali Bakery Konteh (UK/Gambia) and more.
Having lived in Jamaica, Canada and Australia, Michael uses poetry and music as a medium to dismantle borders and celebrate the power of diversity. From tracks such as Fight Your Fears, Caged In and Life Is Special, he emphasizes the urgency of walking the wisdom path and holding ourselves accountable to become the change we yearn for. His most thought-provoking invitation to date is I Do Not Submit.
His work was selected for a several documentaries including Speaking In Tongues: The History of Language featuring Noam Chomsky. He has also received Canadian Reggae Music awards and other industry recognitions for his work.
In Australia, Michael performed at GARMA and in collaboration with other world artists at the Sydney Opera House. 

About Live and Local

Live and Local is a free music discovery trail held on Friday 1st November and Saturday 2nd November 2024, as part of Gossy Weekender, where visitors can experience newfound artists’ sounds in venues throughout Gosford CBD.  

Wander the streets of Gosford and experience live music echoing around every corner, from coffee-shop courtyards, lively laneways, bespoke bars, enchanting churches, bustling breweries, and everything in between. 

Head to Gosford from 5pm on Friday, or from 10am on Saturday to experience 40+ musicians and bands playing across multiple venues showcasing regional and local talent, there's something for everyone!  

Live and Local is presented by Central Coast Council and Destination Central Coast in partnership with Live Music Office and APRA AMCOS, and in collaboration with local partners Central Coast Music & Arts (CCMA) and Musicians Making a Difference (MMAD).
