Grab your calendars, invite your friends and soak up the events this month.

Winter is a time to explore the beautiful region both inland and along the coastline. This month sees the region celebrating the local producers and farmers in our extensive hinterland with the annual Harvest Festival weekend, the Bay to Bay Running Festival along our stunning waterways, as well as a host of creative talents showcased in our vibrant theatre and gallery scene.

With hundreds of events listed on Love Central Coast, be sure to take a look and add some colour to your calendar this winter.

Harvest Festival

Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June, Various locations around the Central Coast hinterland

Harvest Festival is back again this year to celebrate the region’s abundant harvest season. Across the June long weekend, take a glimpse behind the farm gate and follow the event trail around the spectacular Central Coast hinterland visiting nine rural farming communities and picturesque heritage villages along the way.

Both free and ticketed events are gateway to exploring over 30 activations. Between the hubs explore the valleys and scenic views, stopping off along the way to soak up the live music, pick your own produce, meet local farm animals and sample the fine cuisine and drink from around the Central Coast.

Bay to Bay Running Festival

Sunday 16 June, Gosford and Woy Woy

Get your running shoes on and take part in the Central Coast’s most iconic running festival, Bay to Bay Running Festival. Celebrating its 20th year, the charity run which contributes to raising funds to support local charities includes a 5km or 12km fun run, a kids 2km run and a 21km half marathon along the waterways of Woy Woy around to Gosford. Run it, walk it, push someone or hold hands with someone, this event is for everyone. Bring the family and gather your friends for a worthwhile event around the bay.

Saturday 22 June, Macmasters Beach to Terrigal

Walk along 10km of glorious coastline from Macmasters Beach to Terrigal, following beaches, bush tracks and back roads, passing through five beachside villages with immersive festivals held along each headland. Enjoy live music and culture from local Indigenous Peoples as you follow the annual whale migration as they head north to warmer waters. Explore creative sculpture installations, performing artists and marine wildlife talks. Take the 5 Lands Walk route at your own pace, taking in the lands around you as you marvel at the scenic region in front of you.

Central Coast Chilli Festival

Sunday 23 June, Memorial Park, The Entrance

The Central Coast will be sizzling this month with fiery fun for all chilli lovers! From chilli infused foods, spicy chilli products and a chilli eating competition it will be the hottest day on the Coast! For the non-chilli enthusiasts there will be food trucks serving non spicy foods plus live music to keep the party alive and market stalls to browse. One thing is for sure, the Central Coast Chilli Festival it will be a red-hot fiesta!

2024 Australian Ice Hockey League

Sunday 2,  Saturday 15, Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June, Erina Ice Arena, Erina

Rug up warm and take your seats to watch the electric speed and skill of National Australian ice hockey players in the Australian Ice Hockey League as they go up against each other at Erina Ice Arena.

Through out June, and up to August, The Central Coast Rhinos, established in 2005, will play at their home rink on the Central Coast playing agist teams from Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. The Rhinos teams includes Australian team representatives and some of the best ice hockey players in Australia.

Pete Murray – Pete’s Wharf Sessions

Sunday 9 June, Drifters Wharf, Gosford

Pete Murray is coming to the Central Coast and the undeniable Australian music legend, will play his chart topping music on the edge of Brisbane Water for one night in Gosford. With over 1.2 million album sales, 3 of which reached number one in Australia and 17 ARIA nominations, the singer-songwriter will be joined by special local guests Kyle Lionhart, Joel Leggett and Mindy Lou. Sing along to Better Days, So Beautiful and Opportunity, a great way to enjoy the Long Weekend!

The Animals (UK), The Farewell Tour: Final Encore

Wednesday 19 June, The Art House, Wyong

Celebrate the Animals 60th Anniversary and Farewell Tour. The UK iconic 60’s band made some of the most popular music in history including We’ve Gotta Get Out of This Place, The House of the rising Sun and Don’t Bring Me Down! The Art House at Wyong will be the place to see original member John Steel, along side Danny Handley, Bobby Ruiz and Barney “Boogie” Williams. A night not to be missed!

Immerse your senses with exquisite truffles and the best winter seasonal produce from the Bells at Killcare garden at the Bells Annual Truffle Dinner 2024. Curated by Culinary Director Carmon Cansdell, for one night only, celebrate in the flavours of a four-course menu crafted with truffled from Manjimup Western Australian paired with speciality wines curated by Gavin Lennard from Vintage and Vine.

Hand build you own mugs workshop

Saturday 15 June, Centered Ceramics, Umina Beach

Get your friends and family together for a fun morning of ceramics where you will build two mugs using different techniques to mould your clay. Be guided on the art of the pinchpot technique to slowly build your mug or try the slab rolling technique to build your mugs in separate parts. The 3 hour workshop will have your creativity shining through especially when you come to decorate your mugs with designs, stamps and patterns. Your beautiful creations will be ready in 6-9 weeks after they have been dried, glazed and fired.

Blacksmithing: Become the Maker workshop

Saturday 29 June, Artisan Estate, Ulinga Road, Somersby

For something really unique, this workshop offers a new and rare chance to harness an old world technique. Learn the art of blacksmithing and forging metal with fire to create hand made souvenirs such as bottle openers, keyrings and forged nails. The beginner classes allows you to learn hammer

control, tapering, twisting fullering, drawing out  and more. A BBQ lunch is included in the grounds of Artisan Estate. These classes are small and place fill quickly.

The Dip

Sunday 2 June, Peninsula Recreation Precinct, Umina Beach

Fostering literacy in our young readers is so important for the future generations and part of Words on the Waves mission is the foster this love of reading and writing. The Dip is a family fun day geared towards children and teens featuring authors and illustrator including Nat Amoore, Matt Cosgrove, Eva Amores and Charmaine Ledden-Lewis. Kids can also partake in literacy discussions, live illustration demonstrations, storytimes, dance workshops and free crafts. Nurture the goodness of books, stories and creativity at Umina Beach this winter.

Celebrate the best of Wyong and Toukley in a family friendly morning of food, fun and entertainment. Widely celebrated and recipient of many artist residences nationally and internationally, Wiradjuri artist Karla Dickens brings her Embracing Shadows exhibition to East Gosford. With a career spanning 30 years of practise, Dickens explores female identity and racial injustice in an honest and profound way in this exhibition, two themes centred around her reflections on Australian culture as a woman and First National person in post-colonial Australia.

The Snow Queen – Victorian State Ballet

The Victorian State Ballet are bringing the well known fairy tale classic by Hans Christian Anderson, The Snow Queen to the Central Coast. The beautiful ballet portrays the heart-warming story of the young Gerda and her struggle against an evil and icy foe! Stunning sets, splendid costumes and elegant artistry makes this a magical performance for all ages to enjoy.
