Brisbane Water National Park

Brisbane Water National Park is a prime example of why the Central Coast is now an ECO Certified location. In just this one National Park, you have the choice of stunning walks, challenging treks, cycling trails, fishing spots and scenic views. More importantly, the park protects ancient Aboriginal rock engraving sites so you can immerse yourself in our area’s rich culture.

Koalas, Pelicans and Platypus’ are amongst the iconic native animals that call Brisbane Water National Park their home. What better way to witness these creatures than in their natural habitat?

If wildflowers are your thing, you won’t know where to look first. Brisbane National Park covers 12,000 hectares of rugged which is filled with plants such as Scribbly gum (Eucalyptus haemastoma) and Waratah (Telopea speciosissima). A nature lover’s dream.

Nestled with Brisbane National Park are the Gosford Glyphs. These are 300 Egyptian rock cravings depicting Egyptian gods, chickens, bees and many other symbols. Some theories believe they were carved by Egyptian travellers after being shipwrecked more than 5000 years ago, although NSW National Park and Wildlife Service believe them to be engraved in the early 1980's. *Access to the glyphs are for seasoned hikers due to the location.
